Two revered names in London’s underground scene, Heka and Saint Jude collide on two atmospheric new singles. Both applying Heka’s otherworldly vocals to intimate soundscapes coloured by Saint Jude’s ambient production style, ‘In Your Garden’ and ‘Swallow’ mark an intriguing new chapter for the artists. Following Saint Jude’s debut album ‘Signals’ back in 2022 and Heka’s prolific musicianship as a member of Gently Tender amongst other projects, these collaborative tracks capture a particular mood that allows you to zone out of the chaos of everyday life. Zooming in on the former, Heka explains ‘In Your Garden’ “is about new love. It was inspired by La Pioggia nel Pineto, a poem by Gabriele D’Annunzio, which follows two lovers as they walk through a pine forest in the rain, progressively morphing with the vegetation around them, and experiencing the elation both of their growing feelings for each other and for the communion with the nature they are immersed in.” Touching on enchanting elements of folk, gospel and experimentalism, it’s a healing listen that reflects a truly wonderful collaboration. The pair will perform a special live show at a yet-to-be-disclosed location in London on the 23rd of September with the help of label and promotor Slow Dance.
